Process of Establishing Territorial Defense Units Begins in Tavush
Along with the creation of legislation for territorial defense in the Republic, the first territorial defense units have already been established in the Tavush region. Given the 350 km border with the enemy, this is a crucial necessity, especially in a wartime situation. With the help of these territorial defense units, border communities will become more secure and safe.
“After the call from the Prime Minister of Armenia, the establishment of volunteer units began to gain momentum in the Tavush region. In recent days, we have managed to form the first large unit, consisting of 3 battalions, which are currently engaged in combat and firing training. Several more large units will be created, which will work on strengthening the border zone and providing comprehensive support to the armed forces. This also lays the groundwork for the creation of a territorial defense structure,” stated Hayk Chobanyan, the Governor of Tavush.
