We Have Other Operations Planned of Different Nature and in Different Areas: Artak Davtyan
The Defense Army of Artsakh currently does not intend to adapt to the existing frontline situation in the southern front of Artsakh. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Artak Davtyan, in an interview with ArmNews, responding to a question about whether the Armenian side is ready for a ceasefire under such circumstances.
“Engaging in a ceasefire is a political issue, but our military plans do not accommodate this situation. We have other operations planned of different nature and in different areas,” stated Davtyan.
Regarding the enemy's advancements, the defense representative said that it is impossible to ideally calculate what could happen before the war. He also admitted that certain mistakes and issues have surfaced along the way, which the army's command has attempted to resolve as quickly as possible.
“The situation is developing very quickly; both sides are regrouping. As you can see, our reserve forces are actively preparing. We have slightly extended and deepened the process of reserve training, and we have gathered a large number of experienced officers from the reserve,” he noted.
Davtyan also emphasized the importance of maintaining positions on the frontline, noting that while the troops standing on those lines may not be attacked, the preservation of the positions depends on their presence. “They may never come for you, realizing that you are standing firm and stable, but if you withdraw, you will lose the frontline,” remarked the Ministry of Defense representative.
