Economic Activity Indicator Decreased by 7.5% in September
The economic activity indicator (EAI) of Armenia decreased by 7.5% in September 2020 compared to September 2019. The Statistical Committee presented preliminary key macroeconomic indicators reflecting the current socio-economic situation of the country.
Essentially, the declining situation in several sectors has somewhat stabilized. The average nominal monthly salary recorded a growth of 3.9%, with consumer inflation at 1.4%, and industrial product inflation at 3.9%.
In September 2020, the volume of construction increased by 0.6% compared to the same month of the previous year, in contrast to the decline observed in the previous few months. The volume of industrial production also increased by 1.8%.
Moreover, the volume of external trade decreased by 12.4% in September 2020 compared to the same period last year. However, it is important to note that this decrease was due to a decline in imports, as exports increased by 4.6%, while imports decreased by 20.4%.
