French Foreign Minister Condemns Erdogan's Insults Directed at Macron
The French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has condemned the insults directed at French President Emmanuel Macron by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the "slanderous propaganda" against France, reports ria.ru.
“In recent days, the absence of any official signs of condemnation or solidarity from the Turkish authorities following the Conflans-Sainte-Honorine terrorist act has been accompanied by a rise in hatred and slander against France, indicating a desire to incite hatred in our country and within it. Furthermore, direct insults have been voiced against the President of the Republic at the highest level of the Turkish state,” the minister's statement reads.
Jean-Yves Le Drian stated that “such behavior is unacceptable, especially from an allied country. Therefore, the French ambassador to Turkey has been recalled and will arrive in Paris on October 25.” Earlier, Erdogan criticized Macron regarding his policies towards the Muslim minority in France, suggesting that he needs “mental health checks.”
