Armenia Appeals to ECHR Regarding 8 Armenian Prisoners of War in Azerbaijani Video: Yeghishe Kirakosyan

The Armenian representation at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has submitted a request regarding 8 prisoners of war, following the release of a video by Azerbaijani media on October 22. Yeghishe Kirakosyan, the Armenian representative at the ECHR, stated this in an interview with Armenpress.

"A request has been filed to the ECHR concerning all 8 prisoners of war. We have asked for immediate measures to be taken against Azerbaijan by the ECHR. We have also requested information regarding their well-being and health conditions, their current locations, and the conditions in which they are held, as well as measures to ensure their safety," said Kirakosyan.

He did not disclose the names but mentioned that a response from the ECHR has already been received for 5 of the prisoners, as they managed to identify them initially, and later a request was submitted for 3 more individuals in the second phase.

"The ECHR has requested information from the Azerbaijani government regarding these 5 prisoners and has set a deadline until October 29. We are currently awaiting a response. I believe we will receive the same response from the Court regarding the 3 prisoners as well," Kirakosyan noted.

The Armenian side has also informed the International Committee of the Red Cross about the appeal to the ECHR concerning the 8 prisoners of war, as well as regarding the responses received from the Court.
