«I swear by my name, our death toll does not reach 2000» - Artur Khoyan's statement

Armenian Ministry of Defense representative Artur Khoyan discussed the human losses on the Armenian side during an appearance on the 5th Channel, in response to the Russian President's statement that both sides have around 2000 casualties.

“Our losses are significantly less than 2000. However, we cannot provide a final number right now, as there are missing persons and individuals whose bodies are there, or it is unclear whether they have died or not. I don’t want to spread a terrifying impression too much, but do you understand, the density of the fire is grotesquely high; dozens of vehicles, armored vehicles have simply vanished without a trace, do you understand, on both sides. We lose some, they lose some,” he explained.

“In battles of this scale, identifying the bodies is often very difficult. But I assure you by my name, even the significant figures we have announced do not come close to even half the number of our casualties; it is much less. However, we will not limit ourselves to 927. We have missing persons, unidentified bodies, and remains in areas taken by the adversary or in intermediary positional areas. That is to say, the number will certainly increase, but it will definitely not reach 2000,” Khoyan stated.
