Azerbaijanis Take Over Armenian Social Media Accounts and Begin Managing Them: Armenia's Human Rights Defender
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia has obtained objective evidence that Azerbaijanis are unlawfully seizing the passwords to Armenian social media accounts and beginning to manage those pages. This was reported by Armenia's Human Rights Defender, Arman Tatoyan.
The evidence indicates that these social media accounts are being activated from Azerbaijani IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. Current investigations show that this concerns our compatriots who have been captured or have otherwise ended up in Azerbaijan.
From the mentioned pages of Armenian users, hatred is being spread. Materials that incite internal animosity, tension, panic, and unrest within society in Armenia and Artsakh are also being disseminated.
The investigation by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia has revealed instances where these materials receive responses from Armenian accounts, without the users being aware that the page is managed from Azerbaijan. Therefore, exceptional caution should be exercised when using or sharing materials spread via social networks.
At this moment, I am publishing only a few pieces of evidence. All of this information has been documented by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia for the purpose of sending it to international bodies according to jurisdiction.
