Armenia Files Complaint to ECHR Regarding 6 Prisoners of War
Armenia has filed a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) concerning Armenian prisoner of war Albert Mikayelyan, requesting the application of urgent measures to ensure his life and health, provide medical assistance, maintain contact with the outside world, and enable communication with family members. This was reported to Aravot.am by lawyer Siranush Sahakyan.
“There hasn’t been a response from the court yet, which is somewhat logical since it will take a few days to study the case, refer it to the decision-making panel, and inform about the decision,” said the lawyer. She noted that they have not received any information from the family regarding a visit by the Red Cross to the prisoner of war. “We are waiting for the court’s response, and perhaps there will be developments depending on the court's decision,” she added.
According to the lawyer, they have already filed a complaint with the ECHR regarding 6 prisoners of war, and they have received a ruling for one serviceman, with the court giving Azerbaijan a deadline until October 29 to provide information regarding the prisoner of war. She stated that they have yet to receive a response from the court for 3 out of the 6 complaints.
