Araiik Harutyunyan's Application to the Russian President Will Be Acknowledged and Discussed: Zatulyn
“The application of the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Araiik Harutyunyan, will be acknowledged and, of course, discussed,” stated Konstantin Zatulyn, a member of the State Duma of Russia and first deputy chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, in an interview with the ‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper.
It is worth recalling that yesterday, the President of Artsakh sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating: “You are the individual and the head of state who has tremendous authority in the world and in our region. Given all this, we ask you to exert all possible efforts towards halting the war in the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict zone and resuming political processes,” the letter read.
During our conversation, Zatulyn noted that Artsakh is an internationally unrecognized state; however, he emphasized that he has recognized it long ago. “Of course, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, is the leader of the state we recognize and our allied country, while Artsakh is an internationally unrecognized entity. It is true that I have recognized it long ago, but Russia, Armenia, and other countries have not recognized it. And this, of course, poses challenges for a direct response. Certainly, it will be analyzed, but I cannot say more at this time,” he added.
