Azerbaijani Authorities Confirm the Death of National Hero Shukr Hamidov

The website of the President of Azerbaijan has officially confirmed the death of the country's national hero, Colonel Shukr Hamidov. According to Armenpress, a statement was posted on the Azerbaijani presidential website, stating that President Ilham Aliyev had called Shukr Hamidov's father to express his condolences.

Shukr Hamidov was killed during battles in the Kubatlu region (Kashatagh), a fact reported by Azerbaijani media on October 22. Hamidov was awarded the title of national hero of Azerbaijan for his actions during the April battles in 2016, at which point he was the commander of the 706th brigade of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces' 2nd Corps.
