The Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict Originated from Crimes Against the Armenian Nation. Putin Reminds of the Sumgait Events

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated during a discussion at the Valdai Club that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan initially had an ethnic confrontation nature and began with crimes committed against the Armenian nation. TASS reports.

“This conflict did not start as a purely interstate dispute and a struggle for territories; it began with ethnic confrontations. Unfortunately, this is a fact, as brutal crimes were perpetrated against the Armenian nation in Sumgait and then in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is something we must fully consider,” said Vladimir Putin.
