Czechs of Armenian Descent Appeal to Parliament in Support of Artsakh

The Armenian community in the Czech Republic is raising awareness about the situation in Artsakh and Armenia through various means such as signature campaigns, silent protests, and fundraising efforts. Hakob Avetisyan, a representative of the Armenian Youth Union of the Czech Republic, told ‘Armenians Today’ that they have conducted a signature drive in support of Artsakh and reached out to the Czech Parliament.

“We organized an online signature campaign that collected nearly 3,000 signatures in just three days. Following that, we conducted a paper signature collection to be sent to the Czech Parliament, hoping it will be discussed, and we trust that the Czech Republic will eventually express its stance objectively regarding the aggression faced by the population of Artsakh and the local Armenian community,” Avetisyan stated.

According to the representative of the Armenian community, their initiatives have been met with positive responses in the Czech Republic, and there is a prevalent inclination to believe the Armenians. He mentioned that some Czechs had visited Artsakh and provided information about the situation there.

“We have received numerous messages from Czechs expressing their willingness to help us in any way they can. Some individuals have participated in sending aid to Armenia, while others have offered financial support. Although we are far from you, everyone stands by your side, and I am confident that many people are ready to support the Armenians,” Avetisyan remarked.

The representative of the Armenian Youth Union of the Czech Republic also indicated that efforts are underway to gain recognition for Artsakh.
