Armenia's Airspace Declared Safe and Manageable

In the context of the state of war, the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia has taken measures to ensure the safety of the country's airspace for civil and humanitarian flights. The committee has issued three NOTAM notifications directed towards all airlines. This information has been provided by the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

The first notification is cautionary in nature, urging pilots to conduct additional risk assessments before flights in light of the ongoing military operations along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

The second NOTAM informs about the possible presence of unmanned aerial vehicles in the airspace of Armenia, while requesting crews to report any unidentified flying objects immediately to air traffic controllers.

The third notification provides information regarding certain restrictions on the Armenia-Azerbaijan air border: some points have been closed for security reasons. The committee has also emphasized the high level of cooperation between air traffic management authorities and air defense forces.

EUROCONTROL, the European organization for the safety of air navigation, and EASA, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, have expressed their confidence in the measures taken by the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia, its commitment to compliance, and steps taken to ensure safety.

“Considering the military operations in the region, the Civil Aviation Committee has undertaken all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Armenia's airspace. Today is the International Day of Air Traffic Controllers, and I congratulate them, especially highlighting their high professionalism and dedication to air safety. During the most critical days of the pandemic, air traffic controllers voluntarily self-isolated at their workplace for days, and during wartime, they continue their heroic work around the clock to keep Armenia's airspace safe and perform invaluable tasks for the homeland,” emphasized Tatevik Revazyan, the head of the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia.
