Arsen Torosyan Meets with Russian Ambassador to Armenia

The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

“At the beginning of the meeting, the minister expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation for its multilateral assistance in the healthcare sector, especially emphasizing the recent efforts in combating the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the ongoing work in response to HIV/AIDS,” the report says.

“The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing of the Russian Federation (Rospotrebnadzor) will soon provide Armenia with another mobile laboratory,” the minister stated and reiterated his gratitude for the support.

Arsen Torosyan also addressed the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and thanked the Russian Federation for all efforts aimed at resolving the conflict.

“It turns out that at this moment, our healthcare system is operating in three directions. The first direction is planned activities (medical assistance, maternity care, immunization, etc.); the second is the coronavirus pandemic, which has shown an increasing trend recently both here and globally. The third is considering the burden on the healthcare system in Artsakh due to military operations, where the health sector of Armenia is also providing appropriate support to alleviate the burden. The pressure from these three areas certainly presents certain difficulties, but we are managing to overcome them,” the minister noted.

The parties have expressed mutual willingness to continue and strengthen cooperation in the healthcare sector, as stated in the ministry's announcement.
