Studying Rocket and Shell Struck Areas in Martuni, Identifying Unexploded Ordnance
The material prepared in collaboration with the Artsakh Information Headquarters and the "Amaras" newspaper discusses the ongoing rear operations in Martuni.
“During these days, due to shelling and rocket attacks, in addition to the significant damage to a large number of residences, streets, and infrastructure, a considerable amount of unexploded ordnance remains, posing serious dangers to our civilian population. We discussed these and other issues with Vahram Saghyan, the head of the Emergency Situations Department of Martuni Region.
Our interlocutor noted that operational teams immediately respond to affected areas right after the shelling and conduct necessary work. Concurrently, they study the areas that have been hit by shelling and rockets, identify unexploded munitions, which may be relocated to a safer location for later detonation, and restrict civilian access to these areas.
Saghyan also mentioned that employees of the service are involved in working with citizens who have taken refuge in shelters and are always ready to carry out these and other types of work, including firefighting, disregarding all dangers posed by the current situation. They operate in both the urban center and the surrounding villages at all hours of the day.
The head of the Emergency Situations Department states that fully aware of their professional and civic duties, they work with utmost effort and are ready to do everything possible to protect the population from unfortunate incidents,” the author notes.
