Russia Begins Military Exercises in the Caspian Sea

On October 16, the Russian Federation commenced military exercises in the Caspian Sea. During the exercises, naval vessels will conduct missile strikes targeting aerial and maritime objectives.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the drills will take place in the central part of the Caspian Sea, north of the Absheron Peninsula. The exercises involve six ships, seven aircraft, and more than 400 military personnel.
The group will also address issues related to the support, protection, and deployment of forces for marine economic activities. Furthermore, the vessels will tackle problems concerning the elimination of conditional illegal armed formations in the vicinity of protected facilities.
