Nicolas Aznavour Writes Letter to French President Emmanuel Macron
The world-renowned chansonnier Charles Aznavour's son, Nicolas Aznavour, co-founder of the "Aznavour" foundation, has written a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron.
“Dear Mr. President,
Beloved friend and ally of the Armenian people,
The past few days have been filled with grief and concern for the entire Armenian nation: once again, the Armenian people are threatened, as they were in 1915, and are forced to fight for their survival. The population bravely defends its positions, but the casualties are numerous.
I turn to you once again, for you are the man and leader who is not afraid to speak the truth and prioritizes human values. You have proven this throughout your entire tenure. In your speeches, you reminded the Armenians and the world that Armenia is not alone in the face of its tormentors. You have courageously condemned Turkey's hypocrisy and cynicism, as well as its complicity in the crimes of Baku.
The use of Syrian jihadists in this conflict once again reveals the depravity of those governments and presents the terrorist threat that Turkey is bringing to the gates of Europe and Russia. Baku indiscriminately targets innocent civilians and journalists using banned cluster munitions, violating all standards of international law.
Your support and that of the French people is vital for us. I urge you to act and save our people by recognizing the Republic of Artsakh as a sovereign country, protected by the same international legislation as others, economically sanctioning Azerbaijan and Turkey for their crimes, and pressuring the UN to establish peace in the region.
I believe in you and wholeheartedly hope that our humanitarian and democratic values will triumph over these shameless dictatorships, which are driven only by greed and the thirst for power. Armenia is a bastion of civilization that must be defended,” the letter states, as posted on Seda Aznavour's Facebook page.
