Azerbaijan's Armed Forces Use Mercenaries from Syria as Human Shields, Says Syrian Mercenary

Azerbaijan's armed forces are using mercenaries from Syria as human shields. This was stated by independent journalist Lindsay Snell on her Twitter page, who specializes in reporting on conflicts and humanitarian crises. She conducted an interview with one of the Syrian fighters who recently returned from Azerbaijan.

“The Azerbaijani army was there, but they weren’t fighting. They were located 200 meters away from the Syrians,” said the mercenary.

According to the mercenary, Syrian fighters engaged by the Azerbaijani army began to die on the very first day of the war. “And even more so, due to sniper actions alone, we lost 28 men in one battle. They are well-trained,” the mercenary stated.

He also noted that they were sent to Azerbaijan to ensure the security of oil wells alongside Turks.
