Turkey and Azerbaijan's Plans to Take Control of Nagorno-Karabakh by Blitzkrieg Have Failed, Says Pashinyan

Turkey and Azerbaijan's plans to take control of Nagorno-Karabakh by blitzkrieg have currently failed, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told RIA Novosti.

“At this moment, the self-defense forces of Nagorno-Karabakh are holding their defenses. We can essentially say that the plans of Turkey and Azerbaijan to gain control of Nagorno-Karabakh by blitzkrieg have failed at this point,” Pashinyan said during a parallel interview with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, conducted by Dmitry Kiselev, director general of the Russia Today agency, on Thursday.

According to him, the Armenian fighters in Nagorno-Karabakh cannot be considered mercenaries; they are representatives of the diaspora. “As for the Armenian side, of course, there are no foreigners from Nagorno-Karabakh. There may be Armenians who have come from the diaspora to support their compatriots. But, of course, they cannot be regarded as mercenaries,” Pashinyan stated.
