On the First Day of War, Azerbaijan Planned to Block Artsakh, But the Plan Failed: Vagharshak Harutyunyan

Azerbaijan's Armed Forces, supported by Turkey and mercenary terrorists, were unable to accomplish their objectives on the first day of the war unleashed against Artsakh. This was stated by Vagharshak Harutyunyan, the chief advisor to the Armenian Prime Minister, during a press conference at the Armenpress press hall.

“The Turkish-Azerbaijani-terrorist alliance aimed to breach the defense line in northern and southern directions with the first strike. In the southern direction, they sought to cut off the part of Artsakh bordering Iran and reach the Armenian border at Meghri. In the northern direction, they attempted to advance towards Stepanakert’s road and reach Karvachar, thus closing the Lachin corridor and effectively blockading Artsakh. They did not achieve their goal on the first day. Now, they are still attempting to do so without success,” said Harutyunyan.

The Prime Minister’s chief advisor added that it is important to understand that this war was planned in Turkey and serves Turkey's interests. “Their overarching goal is to create a new Ottoman Empire and absorb Azerbaijan. If in the past it was said that there is one nation and two states regarding Turkey and Azerbaijan, now it can be stated that there is one nation and one state,” noted Vagharshak Harutyunyan.
