Karo Paylan Presents Written Proposal on Artsakh Issue to Turkish Parliament

Armenian MP Karo Paylan has submitted a written proposal to the Turkish Grand National Assembly regarding the Artsakh issue. This was reported by Akunq.net, referencing the weekly publication 'Agos.'

In Paylan's proposal, it is specifically stated: 'Clashes between Azerbaijani and Armenian forces continue in Nagorno-Karabakh, putting peace in the region at risk. The Grand National Assembly must take responsibility to stop this war, which has become a new calamity for the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples, and establish lasting peace.'

'Although the Artsakh issue has remained unresolved for over 30 years, it has not subjected to any comprehensive political examination by the Grand National Assembly. The politics that glorify 'heroic acts' and spread hatred jeopardize societal and regional peace. This war, which will benefit no one, must stop as soon as possible. It is essential to ensure that the authorities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Nagorno-Karabakh meet at the negotiation table with the goal of establishing lasting peace.'

'For this reason, based on Articles 98 of the Constitution and Articles 104 and 105 of the internal regulations, we propose to outline our country’s actions for a comprehensive study of the Artsakh issue and the establishment of a ceasefire and sustainable peace, specifying the steps our state must take within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group created for resolving this issue, and examining the impact of the policies pursued by our government that support the war on regional stability and our internal peace.'

He noted that if Turkey advocates for a peaceful solution to the Artsakh issue, the determination of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, the restoration of justice for the human tragedies that occurred in Sumgait, Baku, and Khojaly, the reaffirmation of the culture of coexistence between peoples, the return of refugees to their homes, and the establishment of lasting peace will become possible.
