It's Time for the U.S. to Recognize the Independence of Artsakh: Adam Schiff Participates in Protest in Support of Armenia and Artsakh
Weeks after the first Azerbaijani bombs fell on the residents of Artsakh, hundreds have been killed or injured, and thousands have been forced to leave their homes and sleep under the open sky. This was stated by U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff on his Facebook page.
"Historical churches and cities have been bombed and destroyed. Militants arriving from Syria are being used by Azerbaijan and its Turkish sponsors as mercenary combatants. Despite this illegal war, the people of Artsakh are still standing. The people of Armenia are still standing. And we will continue to support them.
This war did not happen in a vacuum. It is the result of a corrupt regime in Baku offering its people a brutal ethno-nationalism in place of peace, prosperity, and freedom, which it cannot provide," he noted on Facebook.
"For too long the United States has maintained a false equivalence with Azerbaijan, which is conducting attacks on attack after attack," he added.
"Presidents Aliyev and Erdogan need to understand that they cannot resolve a decades-long conflict through the indiscriminate use of force against civilian populations," the congressman stated.
