The People of Artsakh are Determined to Defend Their Homeland and the Security of Their People, Reports the Artsakh Defense Army

On the early morning of September 27, a large-scale war unleashed by Azerbaijan's military-political leadership continues to this day, accompanied by widespread violations of numerous norms and principles of international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and customary international law by Azerbaijan. This statement was issued by the Artsakh Defense Army.

“At the same time, in order to cover up or justify its war crimes, as well as to prepare the ground for new attacks on the civilian population, the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan resorts to disinformation campaigns, accusing not only the military-political leadership of Artsakh but also the authorities of Armenia,” the statement reads.

The people of Artsakh are fully committed to defending their homeland and the security of their people, as well as holding Azerbaijan’s military-political leadership accountable for the committed war crimes and for its policy of turning our region into a hub of international terrorism.

It is worth noting that on September 27, Azerbaijani forces launched a large-scale attack in Artsakh, targeting even the civilian population. As of October 13, the Artsakh armed forces had destroyed 16 helicopters, 18 airplanes, 173 unmanned aerial vehicles, 521 units of armored vehicles, mainly tanks, 86 vehicles, 10 armored personnel carriers, 4 “TOS-1A” heavy flamethrowers, 4 “Smerch” and 1 “Uragan” multiple rocket launchers of the adversary. The enemy has suffered over 5,139 casualties. On the Armenian side, preliminary figures indicate 532 deaths.

The Azerbaijani armed forces have also targeted military and civilian infrastructure in Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia, resulting in the deaths of 2 civilians in Gegharkunik, 25 civilians killed in Artsakh, and 102 civilians wounded, with approximately 5,800 properties and infrastructure units damaged. Journalists from both foreign and local media have also been injured due to Azerbaijani shelling.
