Psychological Complex and Obsession: Lapshin on Aliyev’s False Statement About Capturing Hadrut

Russian-Israeli citizen and prominent blogger Alexander Lapshin has once again addressed the escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on his Facebook page, specifically commenting on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's statement that "his country's armed forces have captured Hadrut."

"The tragicomedy surrounding Aliyev's hasty and embarrassed declaration of capturing Hadrut continues. Let me remind you that four days ago, the president of Azerbaijan announced that Hadrut had been taken, which was a lie, and unfortunately for Aliyev, the city was not only not captured but also multiple film crews from Russian television channels were simultaneously present there conducting reports. Thus, it became clear that Aliyev is simply being misled by his own generals, who are providing him with disinformation about the situation at the front," Lapshin wrote.

He also addressed the criminal case launched against Russian journalist Semyon Pegov in Azerbaijan. "They boasted that a criminal case has been opened against journalist Semyon Pegov, who was among the Russian reporters covering Hadrut. In other words, he did not punish his generals for deceiving him but decided to take personal revenge on the Russian journalist," the blogger stated.

According to Lapshin, "for the fourth day, Aliyev has been throwing all his forces at capturing Hadrut."

"For what purpose? A psychological complex and obsession. It is crucial for him to raise the Azerbaijani flag specifically in Hadrut, take a photograph of it, and essentially, that is it; afterwards, he can disgracefully flee from Hadrut and end the war. It is a principled matter. The head of state completely ignores the fact that Hadrut is no longer needed for them; it is a trap that strategically should have started from Fizuli (it is already too late), which would have allowed cleaning the wing and opening a path to Stepanakert. But no. He will sacrifice thousands of his soldiers, he will lose the war, but for him, it is important to personally prove to Semyon Pegov that the flag will be there where he promised in his speech," Lapshin wrote.
