Cavusoglu Proposes Negotiations Involving 11 Members of the Minsk Group
The Turkish Foreign Minister has stated that international calls for a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh are reasonable, but great powers should also urge Armenia to withdraw its troops from "Azerbaijani territories".
After a meeting with the Swedish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu expressed today that negotiations involving the 11 members of the OSCE Minsk Group would be beneficial for the resolution of the conflict.
"Since Sweden will take over the OSCE presidency next, I made this proposal to my Swedish counterpart," said Cavusoglu.
The members of the Minsk Group, which was formed after the establishment of a ceasefire in 1994, include Belarus, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Finland, and Turkey, along with Armenia and Azerbaijan. Russia, France, and the United States hold the status of co-chairs.
