Turkey Does Not Abandon Attempts to Solve Expansionist Issues, Says Artsakh Foreign Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh has issued a statement regarding the continuing violations of the humanitarian ceasefire by Azerbaijan.

“Despite the agreement reached in Moscow on October 9-10, 2020, mediated by the Russian Federation, regarding a ceasefire for the humanitarian exchange of prisoners of war and the bodies of the deceased, the Azerbaijani army, under the command and control of Turkey, continues aggressive actions and shelling of the territory of Artsakh, including against peaceful civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The humanitarian ceasefire has been violated by the Azerbaijani side just minutes after the Defense Army of the Republic of Artsakh announced a cessation of fire. Azerbaijani-Turkish forces are simultaneously launching attacks in various directions along the front line, alongside unending rocket and artillery shelling. As a result of diversionary attacks towards Hadrut by the aggressive actions of the tripartite alliance of Turkey, Azerbaijan, and international terrorists, four peaceful civilians have been killed.

The actual refusal of Turkish-Azerbaijani forces to cease fire clearly indicates that Turkey, having failed to achieve its objectives, is interested in preventing the implementation of the humanitarian ceasefire agreement coordinated through the mediation of the Russian Federation, through all possible means, thus showing no interest in establishing durable peace in the region.

Turkey does not abandon its attempts to solve its geopolitical expansionist problems in the South Caucasus through Azerbaijan and international terrorists. In conditions where one side—represented by Turkey, Azerbaijan, and international terrorists—stubbornly opposes the establishment of peace, the international community must take decisive measures, including coercive means, to restore peace in the region. An important step in this direction is also the international recognition of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh,” said the statement.
