The Issue of Bringing Peacekeepers to the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict Zone Was Not Discussed with the Armenian Prime Minister, Russian Ambassador

The issue of bringing peacekeepers to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone was not discussed, said Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian Ambassador to Armenia, during a press briefing following a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“There was no mention of this during today’s meeting with the Prime Minister,” he stated.

The Russian ambassador noted that Pashinyan presented his assessments of ongoing events and expressed gratitude to the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and the President of Russia for their efforts to stop the fighting.

“Russia is doing everything possible to ensure that the ceasefire regime works. Active efforts are being made by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian diplomats to stop the clashes. We are in contact with all parties involved,” said Kopirkin.

According to the ambassador, Russia's position is that military operations must cease, and parties should return to the negotiating table to conduct substantive negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group.
