NATO Member Turkey Deploys F-16 Fighter Jets in Azerbaijan, A. Kocharyan Appeals to NATO PA President
A member of the Armenian National Assembly from the 'My Step' faction, Andranik Kocharyan, announced on his Facebook page: 'Today, I sent letters to NATO Parliamentary Assembly President Attila Mesterhazy and the heads of delegations from NATO member and associate countries. I informed them that Azerbaijan continues to target peaceful civilians and civil infrastructure, violating the requirements of the humanitarian ceasefire that was declared from 12:00 on October 10.'
'Moreover, with direct support from Turkey, the policy of the Armenian Genocide is effectively continuing.'
'This is my third letter to you concerning the severe situation prevailing in the Republic of Artsakh. As you know, following the joint meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan in Moscow on October 9, a humanitarian ceasefire was declared in the Republic of Artsakh starting from 12:00 on October 10. While Armenia was fulfilling the presumed conditions of the ceasefire, Azerbaijan resumed indiscriminate shelling of civilian settlements and launched attacks in various directions along the front lines using heavy artillery and battle tanks, violating its obligations.'
'At the same time, breaching our airspace, Azerbaijani combat drones attacked settlements in the southern region of the Syunik province of the Republic of Armenia, resulting in one death and three injuries among civilians.'
'I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that mercenaries and terrorists summoned from the Middle East by Turkey are currently fighting in Artsakh, targeting the civilian population. This is nothing less than the continuation of the policy of the Armenian Genocide that was perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey in 1915; currently, a NATO member Turkey is supporting the execution of the Armenian people’s genocide.'
'The civilian population is also targeted by weapons supplied by Israel and Belarus, which are transported to Azerbaijan under the guise of humanitarian assistance both by air and land routes. NATO member Turkey is deploying F-16 fighter jets in Azerbaijan, which are operated by drones used to target civilian settlements and infrastructure in Artsakh.'
'I would appreciate it if you could provide your clear assessment regarding the actions unleashed by Turkey and Azerbaijan and the current situation. I am hopeful that the fundamental right to live, which is defended by Western democracies, is a value and not just mere words.'
