Life and Struggle Continue in Martuni on Two Fronts While Awaiting Victory
During wartime, the rear is fighting on par with the front lines. The trajectory on the battlefield largely depends on the timely and skilled work carried out in the rear, reports the "Amaras" newspaper.
We all know that from the very first moment of the renewed war, both the city of Martuni and its surrounding villages have been under bombardment and shelling. The same heroism displayed on the battlefield is reflected in the rear as well.
We spoke with Gevorg Balayan, Vadim Danielyan, deputies of the Martuni administrative district, and Edik Avanesyan, the mayor of Martuni, about the ongoing efforts.
According to the officials, the rear operations are being organized with considerable efficiency. Balayan mentioned that daily issues in the regional center and surrounding communities are being assessed, and supplies of food and necessary household items are being provided based on demand. Both community leaders and the responsible personnel in the district administration are working with great responsibility. There are no issues in this regard.
Danielyan also emphasized that efforts are ongoing not only in providing food and necessary household items but also in ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of infrastructure, pointing out the dedicated work of employees in electricity, communication, water supply, healthcare, security, and other sectors.
In addition to the aforementioned, the mayor of Martuni stated that despite the ongoing shelling, workers in these sectors are doing everything possible to ensure that the rear remains as secure as possible. There is close cooperation between the rear and the frontline, expressed through various forms of support and collaboration.
We have hundreds of citizens in the shelters of Martuni city, who are being provided with food and essential items daily. Regular attention is paid to the needs of those taking refuge in the shelters, and these needs are solved promptly.
The principle of putting everything in service of the frontline, everything for victory, is at the core of the work being carried out. While I was there, I witnessed one of our butchers in Martuni going around the shelters distributing meat to the residents. He stated that he had slaughtered his livestock and was trying to help in this way. In two local bakeries in Martuni, bread is baked and distributed to the population every day without exception.
According to Balayan, there are no issues regarding food, including bread, and household goods in both the regional center and the surrounding communities. Everything is being done in an organized manner. The employees of the electricity grid and communication are working not only in the regional center but also in the surrounding communities.
Serious work is also being done by members of the rapid response teams. The responsible persons of the Martuni region and community also noted that efforts are being made to record damages to housing and infrastructure, as well as other types of damages.
The men remaining in the rear are also involved in rear activities, which I personally saw. Importantly, everything is being done on a voluntary basis, with great readiness. People are enlisted for work based on their experience and professional skills. There is also a constant connection with the police and the hospital, with everything being carried out in close cooperation.
Gas is unavailable in many neighborhoods to avoid incidents during emergencies. The city of Martuni, as well as its communities, continue to be under enemy fire, but regardless of this fact, life goes on, and the struggle continues on both fronts, awaiting victory.
