EU Urges Strict Adherence to Ceasefire Agreement
The European Union urges strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement reached during the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan in Moscow for humanitarian purposes. This was stated in a report on the official website of the European External Action Service.
“The European Union welcomes the agreement reached on October 10 of this year regarding a humanitarian ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The EU calls on both parties to strictly adhere to the agreement and urges all stakeholders, including external parties, to refrain from any actions that could lead to greater casualties.
In this regard, we receive reports with extreme concern about ongoing military operations, including those targeting civilian sites, as well as casualties among the civilian population. We urge the parties to ensure complete respect for the agreement at the local level. The EU calls on both parties to return without delay to substantive negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, without preconditions and based on agreed principles,” the statement says.
The EU continues to support the work of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in finding a political solution to the conflict through negotiations and will continue to make efforts to establish sustainable peace in the region.
