Tatoyan Visits Russian Journalist Injured by Enemy Armed Forces in Ghazanchetsots Church

The Human Rights Defender of Armenia today visited a Russian journalist injured as a result of an attack by Azerbaijani armed forces on the Ghazanchetsots Cathedral in Shushi, Artsakh.

The Human Rights Defender wrote about the visit: "On October 8, the Azerbaijani armed forces struck two targeted hits on the St. Amenaprkich Ghazanchetsots Mother Cathedral in Shushi, causing significant destruction and injuries to children, women, and the elderly who were present at the cathedral at the time. Three Russian journalists were injured as a result of the missile strikes.

During my visit to the Erebuni Medical Center, a journalist in the intensive care unit, who sustained serious injuries, asked me to convey that he saw with his own eyes how the targeted strike was delivered to the Mother Cathedral and that there were exclusively children, women, and the elderly in the cathedral. The journalists attempted to help and evacuate the civilians from the church, some of whom had been injured; however, at that moment, the second missile struck, injuring the journalists themselves, while the brutal attacks caused devastation to the church.

The journalist also recounted that he personally verified that there were no military objects on the road to Shushi, only civilian settlements.
