It is necessary to stop this brutality before discussing the peace process, says Foreign Minister

The Foreign Minister of Armenia, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, provided details following nearly 11 hours of negotiations in Moscow with the foreign ministers of Russia and Azerbaijan. In an interview with "News," he noted that the process was quite complicated.

“For us, of course, the primary issue was to reach a situation where we could put an end to this aggression. The aggression was particularly notable in this case because Azerbaijan’s actions were augmented by quite open and strong support from Turkey and the involvement of international terrorist groups. In fact, our compatriots in Nagorno-Karabakh were fighting under quite unique conditions, as apart from Azerbaijan, there was such a powerful offensive involving such forces,” Mnatsakanyan emphasized.

The head of Armenia's Foreign Affairs Ministry pointed out that the situation in the region remains fragile, and it is necessary to achieve a ceasefire. “First and foremost, this has become quite a serious challenge for Nagorno-Karabakh, and any discussion about progress would, of course, be impossible without bringing this situation to an end, without establishing a deadline. What we have been able to document during these long negotiations is that we need to stop the fire, put an end to this brutality, this war, consolidate this ceasefire, and then talk about the peace process and also reaffirm that the co-chairmanship of the Minsk Group remains the only internationally recognized platform for negotiations and the peace process,” the minister stated. He also mentioned that no other powers, particularly Turkey, could play any role in this regard. “The primary task is to bring this crisis to an end,” Mnatsakanyan concluded.
