The Targeting of Journalists by Azerbaijan is Deliberate and Aims to Obstruct the Documentation of War Crimes by the Azerbaijani Army: Armenian Foreign Ministry
The spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry has released a statement regarding the targeting of journalists by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. The statement particularly notes:
“On October 8, Azerbaijani forces again shelled the Holy Savior Ghazanchetsots Cathedral located in the center of Shushi, resulting in injuries to foreign journalists Yuri Kotionok, Levon Arzanov, and their accompanying group member Hrants Baladyan, who were on-site to cover the aftermath of the earlier shelling of the cathedral.”
The targeting of journalists conducting their professional activities in civilian areas by Azerbaijan is a deliberate act aimed at obstructing the documentation and presentation of war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani army to the international community. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured journalists and strongly condemn yet another war crime by Azerbaijan.
At the same time, we invite the entire international community and specialized organizations in the field of human rights and freedom of speech to pay attention to this glaring fact of infringing the right to obtain information by violent means.
