Icelandic Doctors Team to Visit Armenia
RA NA MP Narek Mkrtchyan wrote on his Facebook page: "I received a phone call from my good friend, famous Icelandic doctor Hilmar Kjartansson, with whom I had a conversation in the morning and made a request. Dr. Kjartansson gladly accepted my request to visit Armenia with a team of doctors to assist and train our medical professionals in the application of Icelandic transplants.
Along with Hilmar, legendary British military doctor, burns and trauma specialist Stephen Jeffrin, who has over 20 years of humanitarian mission experience in various conflict zones around the world, will also arrive in Armenia. Stephen Jeffrin is a professor at the Royal Centre for Military Medicine in Birmingham, as well as the Department of Study of Fragment and Burn Injuries at the University of Birmingham.
The doctors will already be in Armenia in the morning and will immediately start working at the National Burns Center, together with the center's director Gevorg Simonyan and our medical team. I would like to note that I reached an agreement on cooperation with Hilmar Kjartansson during my visit to Iceland earlier this January. The doctors are coming as volunteers and without pursuing any profit. Thank you, Iceland!"
