Fresno City Hall Hosts Armenian Flag Raising Ceremony in Solidarity with the Armenian People
The mayor of Fresno, Lee Brand, along with other city officials, joined the local Armenian community yesterday, urging an end to the violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and advocating for restraint against Azerbaijan and Turkey, as reported by local outlet yourcentralvalley.com.
In a sign of solidarity with the Armenian people, a ceremony was held to raise the Armenian flag near Fresno City Hall. “Though we are here, we are connected to Armenia. We are connected through the people who live here,” said Fresno City representative Jerry Dyer, highlighting that by raising the Armenian flag, they expressed their solidarity with the Armenian community and stand by their side.
“With this action, we condemn the atrocities that Armenians have faced in the past and continue to face today,” he added. The city officials also called upon U.S. President Donald Trump to condemn the aggression from Azerbaijan and Turkey.
