We Will Not Allow Terrorists Near Iran's Borders, Says Hassan Rouhani

Iran will not allow the terrorists that the martyr Soleimani fought against to come close to our borders, stated Iranian President Hassan Rouhani during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, where he addressed the military operations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing the threat to the Islamic Republic's security.

He particularly noted, “Our region is very sensitive and important. First, it is very important for us to ensure the safety of the land, villages, and border towns. Whether it is in Eastern Azerbaijan, Ardabil, or elsewhere, the ongoing war in the Nagorno-Karabakh region between the two countries, which has lasted for about 10 or 11 days, is close to our borders.”

He highlighted that one of the key emphases in the discussions with the presidents of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia was the need to pay attention to Iran’s security. According to him, nothing and no problems can be solved through fire, war, and bloodshed. There are other ways, and Tehran is ready to assist in resolving the conflict by any other means.

“Thus, the first issue is our security. The second issue is the problem of terrorists, which is unacceptable for us, and we will not allow the terrorists with whom we have fought for many years in Syria, against whom martyr Soleimani fought, to be close to our borders,” emphasized the president.
