Recognition of Artsakh is the Most Effective Means of Ensuring Peace: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh issued a statement: “We welcome the efforts of the co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at the immediate cessation of military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan, which threaten regional security and stability. In this regard, it is important to note the statement by the heads of the foreign ministries of the co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, which decisively condemns the unprecedented and dangerous escalation of violence in the conflict zone.

We once again emphasize the central role of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship as the only agreed format for mediating the peaceful resolution process of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict. At the same time, we firmly reiterate the fundamental position of the Republic of Artsakh regarding the inadmissibility of Turkey's participation in any form in the international mediating efforts within the framework of the peaceful resolution process of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict.

The criminal actions of Turkey, which commands and directs armed aggression against the Republic of Artsakh, supplies weapons to Azerbaijan for the purpose of waging war, and recruits militants from terrorist organizations in the Middle East to participate in military operations, make its further membership in the OSCE Minsk Group impossible.

The Republic of Artsakh has repeatedly stated that the effectiveness of mediating efforts is directly related to the ability to ensure the irreversibility of the resolution process and to implement effective mechanisms aimed at preventing the resumption of military operations. The two large-scale armed attacks by Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh over the past four years clearly demonstrate that previous mediations were powerless against Azerbaijan’s gross violations of its international obligations and international law, which were nullified by Baku’s illegal actions.

Under the current circumstances, the international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh is the most effective means of ensuring peace and security in the region, which will guarantee a solid foundation for resolving the conflict through negotiations.”
