Iran Must Prevent the Accumulation of Azerbaijani Groups Along the Artsakh-Iranian Border: Artur Hovhannisyan
Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Artur Hovhannisyan stated that it is crucial for the Iranian side to take measures to prevent the accumulation of Azerbaijani armed forces along the Artsakh-Iranian border.
“Azerbaijani armed units, lacking sufficient capabilities to conduct effective offensive operations, have begun to resort to obvious provocations for the second consecutive day. Specifically, in the southern direction of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan military operations, Azerbaijani units are gathering in large groups along the Artsakh-Iranian border (along the Araks River) and effectively hiding behind that border, attempting to advance. With this tactic, the Azerbaijani side aims to provoke the Artsakh forces into opening fire or striking along the border—effectively towards Iran. It is also possible that, as a result of combat operations, Azerbaijani units may have no choice but to retreat or flee into Iranian territory. To avoid all of this, we believe that the Iranian side, which certainly sees all this, must intervene or impose restraint on such accumulations,” Hovhannisyan wrote.
