US Politicians Urge Action to Halt Azerbaijani Attacks on Artsakh

More than ten state, federal, and city officials gathered yesterday near the Los Angeles City Hall, calling for action to stop Azerbaijani attacks on Artsakh.

Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez, California Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, City Councilmember Paul Krekorian, Congressman Adam Schiff, and other figures urged the US to take steps to halt Azerbaijan's aggression in Artsakh and condemned the involvement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the conflict.

“We have a message for Turkey and Erdoğan: you are a NATO member. Start acting like a NATO member. And we have a message for Azerbaijan: stop the hostilities, or there will be consequences,” Congressman Adam Schiff said at a press conference titled “In Solidarity with Armenia.”

“Americans should never tolerate the use of cluster bombs on civilian targets and other war crimes. Americans should never accept fascist Turkish expansionism in that part of the world,” asserted City Councilmember Paul Krekorian.

In a show of solidarity with the Armenian community of Los Angeles, Mayor Eric Garcetti also participated online in the press conference. “Nothing can alleviate the pain and anxiety felt by our Armenian brothers and sisters right now. Acts of undue violence and unwarranted attacks on innocent families have occurred during the invasion of Artsakh’s cities and communities,” he stated.

The mayor announced that Los Angeles will use all its resources to support international dialogue, calling on the Trump administration to take diplomatic steps to establish peace in the region and condemn Azerbaijan's actions.
