UN Secretary-General Appeals to the World to Help Halt Fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh
The UN Secretary-General António Guterres has urged regional and international actors to assist in achieving an urgent cessation of hostilities in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict zone. This was reported by the Secretary-General's official spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric.
According to him, Guterres condemns the ongoing escalation in the conflict area in Nagorno-Karabakh, despite numerous calls from the international community to halt military operations immediately.
The Secretary-General is seriously concerned about reports of the spread of military actions, including shelling of populated areas. “The Secretary-General reiterates that the conflict cannot be resolved by military means and calls on both sides to cease all hostilities immediately,” Dujarric's statement noted.
