Representatives of the Ombudsman Have Studied the Needs of People Transferred from Artsakh to Armenia

Three working groups from the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia have conducted visits to shelters for people transferred from Artsakh to Armenia to assess their needs and provide support in ensuring their rights.

In the shelters located in the regions, representatives of the Ombudsman, including an involved doctor and psychologist, familiarized themselves with the living conditions and needs of the inhabitants. During the visit, private conversations were held with individuals residing in the shelters, with special attention given to children and the elderly.

Representatives of regional state governance and local self-government bodies, along with citizens volunteering in the shelters, effectively collaborated with the Ombudsman’s representatives during the visits. Issues concerning the social and health needs of individuals arriving from Artsakh, living conditions, food, clothing, the right to education for children, and the guarantee of social security rights for the elderly were discussed.

Several issues raised by the residents of the shelters were resolved on the spot. The results of ongoing monitoring have been summarized, and measures will be taken in cooperation with the relevant state and local self-government bodies to address the challenges faced by these individuals.

The rights of individuals relocated from Artsakh remain under the special attention of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
