Azerbaijani and Turkish missiles are destroying people and civilian structures, says Serj Tankian
Famous Armenian-American rock musician and lead singer of System Of a Down, Serj Tankian, has commented on Azerbaijan's shelling of Stepanakert on his Twitter page.
"I have been to this beautiful city twice, the last time in 2017. Azerbaijani and Turkish missiles are destroying people and civilian structures; these are acts of cowardly military crimes as they are falling into despair," wrote the musician.
It is noteworthy that on September 27, Azerbaijani armed forces launched a large-scale attack in Artsakh, targeting also the civilian population.
As of October 4, the Artsakh armed forces have shot down 14 helicopters, 17 planes, 124 drones, 368 pieces of armored vehicles, mostly tanks, 82 vehicles, 10 armored personnel carriers, one TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system, 4 Smerch, and 1 Uragan type multiple launch rocket systems.
The enemy has suffered over 3,145 casualties and more than 5,270 injured. On the Armenian side, preliminary data indicates 209 casualties and over 200 injured.
Azerbaijani armed forces have also targeted military and civilian infrastructure in Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia, resulting in the deaths of 2 civilians in Gegharkunik and 14 in Artsakh.
Journalists from both foreign and local media have been injured as a result of the Azerbaijani shelling.
A state of war has been declared in Armenia and Artsakh as of September 27.
