18 Civilians Killed Due to Shelling in Artsakh

As a result of shelling in Artsakh, 18 civilians have been killed so far. According to Armeniasputnik.am, this information is provided by the office of the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, which has published an interim report.

According to the report, the fatalities have been recorded in the cities of Stepanakert, Martuni, Hadrut, and Martakert, as well as in the Alashan community of the Martakert region and in areas adjacent to the Meghitzhen community. Approximately 80 people have sustained injuries in total, with 60 of them suffering serious injuries. Among the injured, there are 48 men and 12 women, who have received varying degrees of wounds from shrapnel affecting their upper and lower extremities and facial areas.

The residents were injured in various locations across Artsakh, including Stepanakert and its surrounding areas, in the city of Hadrut and the communities of Taghaser and Vardashat, as well as in Martuni, Spitakashen, Martakert, and the communities of Magavuz, Nerkhin Horatakh, Mataghis, Alashan, and Karvachar in the region of Shahumyan.

“We inform you that today Azerbaijan has shelled civilian infrastructures and residential buildings in the capital city of Stepanakert using heavy rockets and aerial bombs, resulting in preliminary reports of three deaths and 10 injuries among civilians, the details of which are being verified,” the office of the defender reports.

People have died and been injured due to the use of prohibited weapons and methods employed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces against the civilian population.
