Armenia's Help Needed for Artsakh, Not Protests: Ara Abrahamyan to Demonstrators
The President of the Union of Armenians of Russia, Ara Abrahamyan, has issued a statement urging people to assist heroic Artsakh in any way possible instead of organizing protests.
“Dear compatriots, the dangerous realities that have arisen after Azerbaijan and Turkey launched an attack against the peaceful population of Artsakh with the mass involvement of Islamist jihadists have left no Armenian indifferent. Today, in Artsakh, not only the fate of the Artsakh people is being decided. We understand this, and reasonable forces in Russia understand and support us. Together, we are doing everything possible to assist heroic Artsakh in the fight against international terrorism, and we believe that our primary goal is to stop the war and bloodshed,” he stated.
“No protest held in Moscow will resolve this issue. On the contrary, the organizers of such actions here will present our supporters and people who share our views as adversaries. Do you want to become a hero? Artsakh is waiting for you. If you want to help Artsakh, come to the center of the Union of Armenians in Russia. We need helicopters, and at the same time, we are ready to compensate you for your work, so that if you wish, that money can be sent to the Artsakh aid fund.”
“There is also another ‘front’ where a war is being waged without rules. An information war. If you want to help Artsakh while staying at home, then spread the truth about this unequal struggle and this holy war on social networks. Publish the truth about the history of Nagorno-Karabakh. On the second day of the war, when I was talking with the leadership of Artsakh and I asked what they need first, the answer I heard was: ‘Convey the truth about us to everyone.’ I hope all our compatriots, especially those organizing protests, will do so,” Ara Abrahamyan concluded in his statement.
