U.S. Embassy Advises Staff and Their Families Not to Leave Yerevan

The U.S. Embassy in Armenia, citing the ongoing military confrontation in Nagorno-Karabakh, has advised its citizens currently in safe locations to avoid non-essential travel within the country.

“The U.S. Embassy has directed embassy staff and their family members not to travel outside Yerevan. Consistent with previous security alerts, the U.S. Embassy in Armenia also continues to urge American citizens to avoid travel south of Yerevan, east of Lake Sevan, and east of the M4 and M16 highways that extend north from Dilijan National Park towards the Georgian border in Tavush province,” the statement read.

The diplomatic mission warns against traveling to Nagorno-Karabakh. The embassy also encourages American citizens to stay updated on local news.

“The U.S. Embassy will continue to monitor the security situation and will provide further information as necessary,” the statement further noted. The diplomatic mission particularly calls on citizens to avoid crowded places and public assemblies and to inform their friends and families about their safety.
