Armenian Security Service Warns of Fake Social Media Pages Creating Panic
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has announced that recently there has been an increase in the dissemination of misinformation through compromised accounts of Armenian news websites and social media users from Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as fake pages created under Armenian names.
Specifically, a fake page on the social media platform www.facebook.com, named 'Armenian Soldier', has been created to spread false news and incite panic among the populations of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh.
There are also Azerbaijani websites in the .az domain that are designed for Armenian audiences and disseminate blatant false information, again aiming to create a sense of panic.
Dear compatriots, it is essential to refrain from using such informational sources, to remain vigilant, and not to share similar information with each other, considering that the dissemination of such information is aimed solely at undermining our national unity and weakening the state.
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia reports that it will utilize all tools granted to it by law to pursue those spreading false news and inciting panic and divisions among the public, holding them accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
At the same time, we urge strict adherence to the requirements of the Government of the Republic of Armenia's decision N 1586-N on declaring a state of martial law, dated September 27, 2020.
