Macron Proposes New Method for Armenia and Azerbaijan to Resume Negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that he has conducted a successful phone conversation with the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan regarding the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and has proposed a new method for resuming negotiations under the auspices of the Minsk Group co-chairmanship, Reuters reports.

Macron stated that work will begin on Friday evening, as he has activated his mediation efforts as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. He also reiterated his call for a ceasefire.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had another phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. According to the Armenian government, the two discussed the created situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the developments in military operations. The Prime Minister thanked Macron for France's principled and constructive position regarding the inadmissibility of unleashing war.

Both sides deemed the involvement of foreign terrorist militants in military operations as unacceptable. The French President emphasized the importance of an immediate cessation of hostilities and the restoration of the peace process, in accordance with the statement made by the presidents of the Minsk Group co-chair countries on October 1 of this year.

Prime Minister Pashinyan found the infiltration of Turkey and its sponsored terrorists into the region unacceptable, emphasizing that without the elimination of these destabilizing forces, it is impossible to restore regional security. In the context of establishing peace, Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the importance of close cooperation among the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and their countries.
