Georgian Armenians Hold Support March in Tbilisi
A support march was held in Tbilisi initiated by the Youth Union of Georgia. Armenian residents gathered in front of the opposition-aligned "Mtavari Arkhi" television station, chanting "shame" to protest the station's recent one-sided and pro-Azerbaijani stance.
According to Aliq.ge, the broadcaster has been actively covering events surrounding the Azerbaijan-Artsakh conflict, primarily relying on Azerbaijani sources and unverified information, presenting false news while ignoring comments containing hatred and anti-Armenian sentiments on the station's Facebook page.
The organizers of the march called for the preservation of journalistic ethics, urging for impartial action, the representation of official news, and the broadcast of objective facts. The march was also covered by a crew from "Mtavari," although the organizers left all their questions unanswered.
"Mtavari Arkhi" is considered a "renovated" version of the pro-government TV channel "Rustavi 2" from the era of Saakashvili’s presidency (the station was returned to its former owner by a ruling from the Strasbourg court). Reports suggest that the television station is funded by Azerbaijan's SOCAR gas company, one of Georgia's largest investors. With SOCAR’s funds, Azerbaijanis are conducting anti-Armenian propaganda.
Hundreds of participants in the march, holding placards, flags, and singing patriotic songs, headed towards the Armenian Embassy in Georgia in support of Armenia and Artsakh.
