EU Leaders Urge Turkey to Refrain from Intervening in Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict: Charles Michel

During the EU summit, leaders from European countries called for an immediate halt to military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was announced by Charles Michel, President of the European Council, as reported by TASS.

The EU leaders urged Turkey not to intervene in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and to play a constructive role in de-escalating the situation. “Yes, everyone should play a constructive role to contribute to de-escalation. We want external intervention to cease, as it complicates the situation,” Michel stated.

“Human losses and casualties among the civilian population are unacceptable. There can be no military solution to the conflict, nor can there be any external intervention. Armenia and Azerbaijan must start substantive negotiations without preconditions. The European Council expresses its support for the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and requests the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy to clarify the prospects for further EU support in the resolution process,” the statement released following the summit reads.
