Students from Border Communities to be Provided with Free Internet Access
Given the state of martial law declared in the country and considering safety concerns, educational institutions in certain border communities have transitioned to remote learning.
In order to ensure the effectiveness of remote education, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has taken steps to provide students in border communities with technical equipment and internet connectivity. Based on the needs identified by the regional administrations, necessary equipment has been provided to students in need.
According to a preliminary agreement with mobile communications operators, students from border communities will also be provided with free internet access.
Schools are organizing remote education in accordance with the regulations for organizing distance education in general education institutions and the educational curriculum. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports also ensures the continuity of education for students temporarily away from their place of residence. Children can attend the nearest school to their present residence.
Considering the current situation, children are included in the educational process regardless of the number of places specified by their license and the availability of documents at the time of application.
All students will be provided with the necessary textbooks. In other educational institutions, the educational process is being conducted according to established procedures without interruptions.
It is worth noting that the educational process is being carried out under pandemic conditions, adhering to the sanitary rules established by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia in the decree of September 18.
If 10 percent or more of the total number of school staff and students are infected with the coronavirus, the school will temporarily switch to remote learning, halting the on-site educational process, and will revert to it after the expiration of isolation and self-isolation periods following recorded cases of infections in the school.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports urges education sector organizers to remain vigilant, adhere to anti-epidemic rules, closely follow official news, and comply with the directives of authorized bodies.
